Crown of Thorns and Stained Glass Window

I was invited to take pictures of a Baptismal service at St. Marks in Sidney. While I was there I took some shots of the church. While I was walking through I came across this Cross in front of this window crowned with a wreath of thorns. I thought it would make for a great silhouette. I also prefered it in Black and White.

I noticed this great little stained glass window and took this shot.

I was real happy with the way these two came out. I tried adding a brass cross to the stained glass window but it forced me to change my focal length and angle of view. It was still an okay picture, but I liked this one the best.

Take'n a Peek

This weekend I went to Botkins to take some pictures of the old AT&T transmission tower for my Radio Maria Post for my Cross Tipped Churches blog. I found this one to be the most artistic of the bunch. I wish I could do something about the equal horizontal thirds but it was pretty dark inside even with the light coming through the windows. I couldn't really see what I was capturing until I did some post processing. I still think it's a pretty cool shot.

Before and After a Little Help from PhotoShop

I posted the final product in my Cross Tipped Churches blog. This is one of my pre-visualizations. When I saw this picture forming before my camera lens, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted the finish product to look like.

Here is the first pic with nominal editing, mostly getting the crop that I want.

I did some adjustments with shadow and highlights, brightness and contrast, burned and dodged and added my text and my vision was complete.
